If you are looking for an educational field trip for your class, please consider us. You can choose to come to METC or have our experienced educators bring programs to you.

Education & Craft Programs for Schools & Youth Groups

METC is a history museum that tells the story of how people lived and worked in the 18th and 19th centuries. The Museum is dedicated to educating young people about this aspect of New Jersey life. Through interactive programs, children take part in a lesson and make a craft to take home with them.

With a variety of offerings targeted to appropriate age levels, our educational programs meet
New Jersey's Core Curriculum Standards and enrich formal classroom education.

These programs offer topics on Early American history, craftsmanship
and the diversity of trades, chores and games of Early America.

Extra-Curricular Programs

The Museum also offers a variety of after-school and summer programs. These include Girl Scout and Cub Scout programs that provide interesting and educational ways to fulfill many of the requirements for badges, arrows and achievements.

Our gift shop has many low-priced educational toys and materials for young people.
Many schools schedule a visit to the shop as an after-class treat for the students.
The Museum does not have an indoor snack area.

With each booking, teachers receive a complimentary curriculum packet.

HOW TO SCHEDULE A PROGRAM

Programs are available Tuesday through Friday, Monday by special arrangement..
Programs are 1½ to 2 hours in length.
Classroom teachers and chaperones must remain with their students during the sessions;
one adult for every 10 children is recommended.
A deposit of 50% of the total program cost is required to secure your reservation.
Final confirmation of the number of participants must be made 5 days in advance.
No refunds will be made for programs cancelled less than 2 weeks prior to confirmed date.
The Museum will make every effort to reschedule programs cancelled due to inclement weather.

At the Museum, the cost is $8 per student, minimum of 12 students, maximum of 50.
Outreach programs are $220 for the first program, $180 for each additional presentation,
plus travel expenses. There is a maximum of 25 children per outreach presentation.

The workshops are designed to assist educators interested in finding ways to incorporate history and crafts into the school curriculum. Each program provides in-depth information about our programs and includes hands-on crafts.

METC is a registered New Jersey Department of Education Professional Development Provider.
Two New Jersey State Accredited Continuing Education Units are available for each participant.

This program can also be provided on-site at your facility.

FULL-DAY FESTIVALS

A number of programs are available to make history, trades, and crafts part of your school's full-day festival.

The Museum is accessible by the standards of the Americans with Disabilities Act.
A ground-level entrance with an elevator allows stairs-free access to all public levels of the building.
