Coronavirus (COVID-19) Updates

Madison, NJ – March 16, 2020 – Based on latest information, and following the lead of many other institutions and organizations around the state METC will be closed to the public as of Monday, March 16, 2020 due to the rapidly changing COVID-19 situation. The safety of our staff, visitors, and volunteers is our top priority. We will carefully reassess the situation in the coming weeks and share updates on our website.

We will continue to monitor the daily updates from the WHO, CDC, federal, state and local officials regarding the concerns about the growing number of Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) cases that have been reported in the United States, as well as reported growing number of presumptive positive cases within New Jersey.

The Museum has developed a set of at home resources for children and families that are practicing social distancing. METC at Home has coloring sheets, games, recipes and more, which will be updated regularly. You can access these resources by visiting

Simple steps that you can take to prevent the spread of the flu and common cold will also help prevent COVID-19:
•    Wash your hands often with soap and warm water for 20 seconds. If soap and water are not available, use hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol;
•    Avoid touching your eyes, nose, or mouth with unwashed hands;
•    Avoid contact with people who are sick;
•    Stay home while you are sick and avoid contact with others;
•    Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or sleeve when coughing or sneezing;
•    Routinely clean frequently touched surfaces.
