Virtual Event: Modern Surgery: Science, Technology, and Artisanal Knowledge

October 22 from 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm

$10

As part of our new exhibit, “Cholera to COVID-19: Epidemics, Pandemics & Disease,” join METC virtually via Zoom on Thursday, October 22 at 7pm for this fascinating lecture by Dr. Isaac Starker! Healers have been practicing surgery on both willing and unwilling subjects since ancient times, but the modern surgery we know today did not really begin until the early 19th century. Dr. Isaac Starker, a plastic and reconstructive surgeon and Vice Chair of the Morristown Medical Center Surgery Department, will share his insight into the history of surgery and discuss some of the tools and instruments that have been used by surgeons in the past, as well as some of the more modern ones. Pre-registration is required for access to the Zoom link for this event. This event is free for METC Members or $10 for Nonmembers. Click  here to register!
